Church environmental management
Our conference centres are synonymous with environmental compatibility, sustainability and resource conservation. We have an environmental management system in place which complies with the European EMAS standard.
In April 2018, all conference centres and hotels were collectively recertified in line with EMAS, as were the environmental management system of the seminary in Rottenburg and the diocesan youth welfare office (Bischöfliches Jugendamt) in Wernau.
Through the EMAS recognition, the conference centres of the Diocese of Rottenburg-Stuttgart are able to introduce and maintain a continuous improvement process of environmental education, not just for themselves but for everybody.
EMAS stands for “Eco-Management and Audit Scheme”. EMAS is a voluntary instrument of the European Union which supports companies and organisations of all sizes and from all industries with the ongoing improvement of their environmental performance.

Future-proof electricity generation
All our conference centres and youth hostels obtain their electricity from KSE. KSE is a non-profit-making, sustainable energy supplier specifically for churches.
Out of a sense of responsibility towards creation, KSE uses green electricity from renewable energy sources. The TÜV Nord inspection authority confirms the ‘green’ quality of the electricity supplied.
The green electricity we are currently using is hydro-electric power from the Alps.
You can find further information on this on the KSE website.
